I never thought I would pick up yoga in my 40s. I thought it’s for people who are younger and more flexible. I decided to give it a try, because I have been told it will be good for my quick temper. I was amazed at how my body transformed, I became stronger and more flexible, I also find unlike other form of physical exercises, I am never bored, I look forward to my daily practice.
Towards the end of October last year, I thought I am ready for a proper yoga studio. I tried out many different yoga studios for over two month, finally I found Gaia Flow Yoga, and I knew I found my path towards my pursuit of self realization. I’ve been practicing daily since Jan 6th, never missed a day. After 100 days, I stopped counting. I know Yoga is now important part of my life.
I never thought I would be good at teaching anything, but under all the love, support and encouragement from teachers at Gaia Flow Yoga, I decided to take teacher training with Gaia Flow Yoga, I thought if Yoga changed my life, I would like to be able to bring the changes to someone else’s life. Iyengar says “Often, we hear people saying they remain active and light when they do just a little bit of asana practice. When a raw beginner experiences this state of well being, it is not merely the external or anatomical effects of yoga. It is also about the internal physiological and psychological effects of the practice.” In my own experience, I know the change yoga gave me in this short 11 month. I wasn’t able to do one Chaturanga Dandasana on my knees when I started! 11 month later I can hold my handstand for one second or two, not just because I developed strength also because my mind is a lot quieter through yoga practice.
See you on the mat soon!
